Set up spin the wheel on this computer

This computer needs a local spin the wheel client when browser tabs are blocked, when you want offline picks, or when a classroom wants one named zip on every image. Prefer DemoWheel_release_v1.zip from GradXL49/DemoWheel tag v1.0, extract under a folder you keep, then run Demo Wheel.exe.

Home: spin the wheel. Windows walkthrough: install on Windows.

Choose a folder you will still find next month

Extract into Documents\Games\DemoWheel or a shared lab path, not the Downloads trash pile. The zip creates a release_v1 folder that holds Demo Wheel.exe, themes, and images. Keep that whole tree together so settings.ini and themes stay beside the exe after first launch.

Portable layout notes: portable folder. Extract detail: zip extract.

Launch with the space in the filename

The executable is literally named Demo Wheel.exe with a space. Double-click from Explorer, or quote the path in PowerShell. Do not rename casually if a ticket already documents the upstream name; renaming without notes creates duplicate support paths.

After launch, click SPIN once to prove the wheel moves. First-run narrative: first run.

Settings worth touching on day one

Open Settings from the toolbar. Add the titles your room actually uses. Save a theme before you Apply someone else’s look, because Apply overwrites without warning. Skip the shadow text option if the machine is slow; README warns it tanks framerate.

Themes guide: settings and themes. Titles guide: custom titles.

Network and offline expectations

You need network once to fetch the zip from GitHub Releases. After extract, spin the wheel can run offline from disk. Offline notes: offline use.

Soft parks for macOS and Linux stay parked. This computer path is Windows-primary because upstream ships Windows only.

Write the ticket before you leave

  • Releases URL for GradXL49/DemoWheel tag v1.0.
  • Filename DemoWheel_release_v1.zip.
  • Folder path that holds Demo Wheel.exe.
  • Note that winget and brew were not found.

First hour checklist: installed. Safe download: download safely. Updates: update and uninstall.

If SmartScreen blocks the exe, re-check the GitHub URL before you allow a mirror. Signing was UNVERIFIED on the research date. Safety: is it safe.

Keep browser picker tabs only as a labeled fallback, not as a second mystery install. Switch plan: switch from browser wheel. Comparison: vs picker wheel sites.

Lab images should pin the zip name beside the OS version. After every reimage, download again from Releases and prove one spin before calling the machine ready for spin the wheel sessions.

Spin the wheel desk checklist

Keep spin the wheel installs boring: named zip, full extract, one proven SPIN, Releases bookmark. Soft parks for macOS and Linux stay parked because upstream ships Windows only and no winget or brew id was found on the research date.

  • Prefer DemoWheel_release_v1.zip from tag v1.0.
  • Extract so Demo Wheel.exe sits under release_v1.
  • Quote paths that include the space in Demo Wheel.exe.
  • Refuse Softonic mirrors that only rank for spin the wheel.
  • Write the folder path beside the OS version on the ticket.

Home pillar: spin the wheel. Windows install: install on Windows. Zip extract: zip extract. First hour: installed. Safety: is it safe.

When Releases publish a newer tag, re-check the live asset list before you teach an old zip name for spin the wheel. Live GitHub lists win over memorised footnotes.

Adjacent phrases such as wheel spinner, decision wheel, picker wheel, random picker, name picker, and raffle wheel stay out of scope. Keep those searches on their own doors so spin the wheel notes do not collide with sibling intent.

Club machines should receive the same documented extract. After every reimage, download again from GitHub Releases rather than restoring unknown Desktop shortcuts. Offline spins still need that first honest fetch. Travel USBs should copy the whole release_v1 tree only after one local spin the wheel session works.

Producer notes should list titles beside the Settings Apply warning. Classroom notes should pin DemoWheel_release_v1.zip beside the OS version. Family notes should keep the Releases bookmark labeled for spin the wheel instead of burying it in chat history.
